Behemothic drone sculpture menaces New York Urban center, with intent

A giant, white sculpture of a drone has appeared 25 anxiety (vii.6 m) over Manhattan's High Line park, unnerving New Yorkers - which was the creators' intention.

NEW YORK: A behemothic, white sculpture of a drone has appeared 25 anxiety (7.6 m) over Manhattan's Loftier Line park, unnerving New Yorkers: which was the creators' intention.

Sam Durant, the artist behind the fiberglass "Untitled (drone)," said the work was designed to "remind the public that drones and surveillance are a tragic and pervasive presence in the daily lives of many living exterior - and within - the United States."

The white sculpture of the predator drone stands out confronting the blueish summer skies, appearing to hover over 10th Artery, and rotating on its pole when pushed by the air current.

"What we want to practice with Loftier Line Art is to bring to the public not simply beautiful artworks, simply also thought provoking artworks that can generate conversations," said Cecilia Alemani, chief curator of Loftier Line Art, which sponsored Durant's piece of work.

California resident Ariella Figueroa said the drone fabricated her think about the future.

"It'south the aforementioned technology that we were using in Iraq and Afghanistan 10, 12 years ago that is now handheld and anyone can buy," said Figueroa. "It's a little intimidating, a little scary, especially here in New York City."
